First thoughts on building this website
Well... I've tried to build the simplest website possible that still meets our basic requirements. It has a newsletter, a functional discussion forum, blogs, a schedule and a way for us to collect different bits of content that have been made (or will be used) for the course.
It's always a struggle using drupal for this kind of project as it offers so much functionality that it is tempting to build and build and build until only the builder can find anything. I'd love to hear your first (and second) reactions to the way things are built so i can continue to improve it.
I think simplicity is the key for this kind of site... and it's starting to look to me like "there really isn't much here anyway" which is usually a sign that I'm getting close to the right design.

love it... can go where I want to quickly; access is excellent; looks good; keeps me interested... what more do I need? It doesn't make my coffee!

Hi Dave,
As a fellow Drupal user, hats off on the site. Can I ask if you are sticking to out of the box modules, or are you digging into customizing your own themes and modules?

Hi Dave,
Having been poking around the web site and appreciate its simplicity. Suits me just fine for now...may have some thoughts later.
Thanks - Angela

thanks. i'm still debating adding a little functionality, but might wait to see how the course progresses and at least wait until people are comfortable with what's herenow.
cheers.
