Survey Number 1 - Painting a Data Picture of Us
Good evening, Everyone!
I would like to begin painting a data picture of us, the participants, in this exciting venture called #edfutures. To this end, I have created a short and simple survey using Google Docs. You are invited to participate! The idea is that you login to the website listed below and take the survey. When I can, I will produce "snapshot" data pictures of our group, and post the output here or in some other suitable location, such as the artifact section. I anticipate other survey questions will suggest themselves as we continue; this is just a simple start. I'll number each survey, and try to have a thematic title if it makes sense. If you have ideas for questions you would like to see, please post a comment/reply on this blog, and I will try to work them in. I want each survey to be easy to complete, and give us another way to understand who we are as a group. I hope this is a good start. Thanks for participating!

Good day! This survey is solely for the purpose of generating data about ourselves for the Ed Futures archive. Responses will not be analyzed individually, but collectively so your data will remain anonymous. Please respond honestly and as accurately as possible so the data provide meaningful information. Thank you for your time.
PS If anyone has difficulties, please post here, or send me email through this site. I think this should work for everyone, but I am a novice using Google Docs. I am experimenting!

Only a few have taken the survey, but here are the results in this small snapshot. The nonteachers of the group were forced to answer questions such as how many students they teach and where they teach. I apologize for the error. We'll have to take these results with a grain of salt...
Follow the link for results as of Tuesday 04MAY 7pm Eastern

Question one asks, 'Do you teach?' I answered no but I had to answer question two (otherwise it wouldn't let me submit). However, it doesn't give a not teaching answer to tick.

Frank,
You are quite right. I was in such a hurry that I didn't take that into account. I'm going to leave it as is, and try not to make any more mistakes like this. Thanks for letting me know!

I am coming to realize that there may be many technical specialists here - if y'all will start completing the first survey, I'll take that into account in the next one. It would really be nice to be able to see who we are since we number 700 now!
ekendriss says: WORDLES!
I have created two wordles:
One from our blogs on this site

One from the subject lines on the Trends Discussion Forum (missed the first dozen or so entries--oops!)
